Amen....I understand that just because you are a parent, it does not mean you always make the right decisions....repeatedly making your convenience a priority over your child(ren) is horrid. I know if I had pushed my children aside all these years, I would most likely have a very successful career...But at what cost? My children are so much more valuable than money/career. I've passed up wonderful career opportunities. Do I regret them? No, even when money is tight and stress is high.
On a lighter note...I am a seriously unpopular parent at my children's schools and doctor's office...lol...not that I'm not friendly, I just don't follow like a lamb to the slaughter house. I research and double-check "advice" given by anyone...then consult that which is greater than all (which seriously offends many, much to my sardonic amusement), and finally do what I feel is best....This is rarely what is "popular" or "politically correct."
Back when I was a teenager, I was nicknamed "Maverick"....Little did my friends and foe alike realize how apt a "name" it was and would be......
